Tour Buy On

Concept

Over the last ten years the landscape for touring musicians has changed dramatically.  With the expansion of social media and home recording tools, anyone can start a band or their own label.  Yet the best way to promote one's brand is still by playing live music in front of as many people as possible.  Having the right tour for an emerging artist not only helps reach a broader market, but also gives the publicist, record company and radio teams the ability to do their job.

Landing the right tour is not easy though.  With so many acts fighting for the same opening slot, one way bands can separate from the pack is by having the financial backing to subsidize the headliners touring budget.  The idea of paying to play certainly is not for everyone.  Although we understand this business model works better for some genres of music than others, it's our intention to provide opportunities for those willing to look at touring as an investment in building their bands brand.

F.A.Q.

Q: I don't know if we can come up with the budget to pay for a tour. Will we be able to pay the headliner half way through the tour?

A: No. All buy on money will be paid upon a signed and negotiated tour agreement. Usually this takes place 3-5 months before the tour actually starts.

Q: Is my group guaranteed a tour if we have the budget for it?

A: No. At the end of the day, the headline group will be making the decision. We are simply trying to put great emerging acts in front of them to help their decision making process. A lot of the time, headline acts decide to take out bands that are friends, or bands they owe favors too. That is understandable. Tour Buy On is strictly trying to provide these headliners with another option and a greater pool to choose from.

Q: How much money should I expect to pay to be on tour?

A: The answer to this varies from case to case, and is why our expertise of negotiating dozens of these deals will help maximize your dollar. Typically The average buy on is around $1 per head.  So 500 capacity rooms $500 per show.

Q: If we buy onto a tour, do we get paid by the promoter every night?

A: Again, this varies from tour to tour, but for the most part the answer is no. Although you might not be making show guarantee's - you will be building your brand and career by playing in front of an audience that will hopefully buy your merchandise.

Q: If I'm a headline act or manager and I use Tour Buy On, do you take a cut from our money? A: No. The "buy on" artist will pay Tour Buy On.

Q: What is the fee?

A: In the Past, Tour Buy On has acted as a broker strictly taking a % of the "buy on" price.  We no longer operate this way for a variety of reasons, and now are working strictly on a retainer basis. this move was made primarily because our intent is to be invested for the long term with the projects we work with.
